So, I've clearly not been working out. Not even a little. Lack of motivation, and other projects have kept me busy. I came home today for my lunch break expecting to work out, but I don't WANT to work out. I want to work on my Halloween costume. It's going to take me forever to get it done. And then there are the kids toys (loads of them) that are all over my workout mat and all over the family room downstairs. I would have to clean up in order to work out. Ugh! Am I talking myself out of it, or am I just making excuses so I don't have to feel badly for missing a whole week?
Probably a little of both.

Day Eleven... (Twelve, Thirteen and Fourteen)
This was originally Thursday, October 7th, but I didn't get a chance to write. I did workout. Did the Cardio Recovery (aka. yoga) and did pretty well. I'm getting better at some of the stuff he does. Shaun T. tends to use the same moves in each workout - especially the stretches and cool down. It's good, because if you're uncoordinated, you can learn it a little better each time.
As suspected, I did not get to work out any of the last 3 days. With Thanksgiving today and my friend visiting, it was just not going to happen. I am suppose to be taking the fit test tomorrow, but since I've missed 2 workouts, I am going to keep to the schedule and make up for those 2 days by working out on the Sundays as well. I will catch up... it just may take a few weeks.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Day Ten...
I'm not going to lie to myself (or you) about today's workout. It sucked. I sucked. I made it about 25 minutes in (half-assed at best) and then fell onto the chair for a rest that lasted about 5 minutes. I am extremely tired. The little one is sick and was up crying thru the night, and I got about 4 hours sleep. I'm not proud of my performance today, but pleased that I put in the effort.
Gotta keep plugging away!

Day Nine???
I had a really, really busy day today. But I did manage to squeeze in the Pure Cardio workout. And this time I paced myself better and was able to do 20 pairs of running scissor kicks. Much better.
It's Thanksgiving this weekend and my BFF is coming. It will be challenging to not only be motivated to keep up with the program, but to find the time to do it. Must think positive and MAKE TIME!
I must admit that I'm getting more acquainted with the Yogaish stretches Shawn T. does. I might even grow to enjoy it... some day.
Time for bed. I'm exhausted.

Day Eight...
Cardio Power and Resistance (otherwise known as "the one with all the push-ups")
It's been a week now since starting the program. Time for a weigh in. In my heart I'm hoping for some HUGE loss... like 5lbs all from my middle, but my head knows better. A loss of 1-2 lbs per week is ideal. I lost... not a damn thing! Nope, nothing. Still using the same holes on my belt (so I've not miraculously turned it all into muscle), and unless my scale is damaged (maybe I should get a new one just in case), I am feeling a bit perturbed.
The other thing is, my hip is wrecked. I've been nursing a sore hip/low back for a few months now. Yet another great reason to get moving. But today's workout just didn't help this problem. There are warnings on the DVD... "Insanity isn't for everyone; check with your doctor; etc. etc."... but that can't possibly mean me! I am healthy. Oh, wait, except for the arthritis and asthma, and extra 100 lbs, I'm healthy. All the more reason to get in shape.
I will say it again... Insanity IS NOT for everyone. Even going at my own pace, there is no way to modify many of these exercises, and it may be too late once you've tried it.
Off to hit the shower, the rub on the Voltaren (wicked stuff, btw).
PS - I refuse to give up and still plan on finishing the next 55 days... just more modifications.

Day Seven...
And He created the Heavens and the Earth and on the 7th day, He rested.
And so did I.
The day off was nice, but I don't feel all that great for it. My muscles hurt. Every single one of them, but especially my head. I really need to start working on my posture during the workouts... and while driving the bus.
I think an early night is in order. I'll have to push through the rest of the week... and clean house as my BFF and her family are coming for Thanksgiving.

Day Six...
Pure Cardio... yup it is!
I have never sweat so much during a workout. I dripped on my mat and had to towel off several times. Not sure if i'm working harder, or it was just this workout in particular. There was not ONE person that made it through the workout without a break (or several) including Shaun T!!! I can't feel badly about my performance - tho by the time we got to the running scissor kicks I only managed four of them - even the skinny people were passing out. :o)
I have noticed a few changes (other than the sore muscles) that I thought I'd share. First, I have more energy. I can run downstairs and upstairs again without being winded. I don't need to have a "5 hour energy" shot to get through the morning. And i'm sleeping so much better! I know that everyone touts the benefits of working out, and my husband will tease me that he's been telling me this all along, but to actually reap the benefits (and in the first week) makes me all the more motivated to finish this.
I get to take a day off tomorrow. Can you tell I'm excited?

Day Five...
Ooops! I guess I wanted to avoid Pure Cardio, because I skipped it and did Plyometric Cardio. You're suppose to do the Plyometric tomorrow anyway, so I plan to do Pure Cardio then. Just goes to show; you have to look at the schedule before every work out. :o)
I was curious to see if I could do any better the second time with the Cardio Circuit. But I pushed myself too hard in the beginning and ended up having to rest in the middle again.
As always, it was intense. And, as always, I am exhausted.
Thanks to my dear husband for his encouragement. And for eating lunch on his la-z-boy while I was sweating in front of him... nice. ;p

Day Four...
Cardio Recovery! Woohoo! Looking forward to this day! No cardio today!
Of course you have to still exercise. So, whatever are we doing? Awe bloody hell! It's Yoga. And not just yoga for beginners, or some lovely down dogs... it's hard!
I will give you an example: Get down on your hands and knees. Now, take your knees off the floor so that your full body weight is somehow being held up by your tippy toes and the palms of your hands. Not done yet. Now, lift one of those legs and do a back kick... SIXTEEN TIMES... then switch legs.
Me, well, my knees never left the comfort of the mat, tho I did give it an honest go. And even tho I still despise yoga, it was nice not to have to jump for 40 minutes.

Day Three...
Cardio Power and Resistance is poorly named. It should be called, "Push ups, Push ups, oh wait, more Push ups!"
If you've got 50 or more pounds of extra weight around your middle, this may not be the DVD for you. I can't even do ONE push up. At least not one where my knees leave the ground. So, as always, I struggled through and made up my own routine (knees or tushie touching at all times).
I managed to get though the first interval, but when my heart felt like it was about to burst through my chest I had to take a 2 minute break. The second set of training was meant to work your arms. At least that's what I'm assuming since it was all push-up variations. One was even a plank ball push up where your entire body weight was on the tips of your toes and hands. Didn't even bother with THAT one.
Well, I got out there and sweat for another 40 minutes (38 if you count the time it took to get my heart back into my chest). Now it's just pushing through the next 60 days.
I won't do this again. It's simply not meant for FAT people to get fit. Insanity is meant for FIT people to get fitter.

Day Two...
I tried to take a picture, but it just didn't do it justice. I am a gigantic ball of sweat! I did the Cardio Playtronics something-or-other. I'll have to check the DVD. The first part was ok, then there was this "resting" bit that was yoga-ish. I do NOT do yoga. My body simply cannot move that way. So I kinda just stretched on my own (which i'm quite sure i'll be paying for tomorrow).
Then was the second bit - the interval training. Holy Crapoli! The thoughts running through my head at this point go something like this, "i'm just too damned fat to do this", "my knees can't take the pressure", "I can't jump up like that". It was nuts! And there is no way to make it easier (I just did it slower). And without that "come on - keep pushing - dig deep" from Shaun T, there would have just been me on the floor "resting" for the rest of the video.
But I did it. And I am so proud of myself. l wasn't pretty. I don't feel any lighter. And I am certain that I'll literally have to crawl out of bed tomorrow. But day 2 is done. Only 61 days to go.
edit* It's called Plyometric Cardio Circuit. Whatever it's called, it still kicked my ass. ;)

Day One...
I am fat. Super huge fat. Not one of those chicks who says they are, when really they're a size 6. I weighed myself this morning and I'm a whopping 256lbs! I am 5'8, so I carry it well. Ok, no one carries over 250lbs well...
First I should say that I LOVE TO EAT. I love food, especially sweets. Heck, I even stopped writing this to go make a pineapple smoothie. And recently it has occurred to me that since I'm not willing to give up food, I had better get my ass in gear to burn off the calories.
My friend bought "Insanity" from late night TV. It's by Shaun T and is a 60-day total body workout (63, actually). I figure can put out the effort for 60 days. And if I post here, I'll be more likely to stick to it.
The results of my fit test are downstairs, and I'm far too exhausted to go get it. The fit test kicked my ass.
I have to go make my daughters lunch now. I'll write more tomorrow after day 2.
